Let’s be honest. Selecting your swimming pool opening date can be stressful. There are many things to consider that are so easily forgotten…
Remember that year where you planned a Memorial Day BBQ?
The weather was beautiful, the food was delicous and prepared on time, even your youngest son made an appearance…. BUT your pool was dirty!
You do not want that to happen again!
So here is what you do:
Here are the ONLY 4 questions you will need to answer in order to select the best pool opening date for you.
1. Are there any important dates you want your pool beautiful and accessible for?
Some examples may include:
- Birthday Parties
- Memorial Day BBQ
- Graduation Party
- Wedding Anniversary
- Last Day of School
You want to keep all of this in mind when choosing your preferred opening date. Let your pool company experts know about any and all special occasions your pool needs to be ready for. This way your pool company can take proactive measures to make sure your pool is ready when you are!
2. Do you want the longest possible pool season? (Really, who doesn’t?)
In the Midwest, our pool season isn’t very long and it is important to get as much enjoyment out of your pool each year as possible. Not to mention, a beautiful pool is much easier on the eyes than an ugly pool cover.
Just to be able to look out at your backyard and see crystal blue water instead of a faded green cover is reason enough to schedule your pool opening early.
Also, if you have a pool heater or a heat pump you will get more use out of your pool by scheduling your opening as early as possible- think late March to early April.
3. Do you want to save a little money on your opening?
Some pool companies offer a discount if you open your pool early in the season or late in the season. Most customers want their pool opened sometime between mid April to the end of May so some companies offer a discount in order to entice their more flexible customers to open their pool “outside of the busy opening season”. If you are interested in saving money and it doesn’t matter to you when your pool is opened, make sure to check with your pool company to see if they offer any special savings.
4. Do you have any pool or backyard projects in the plans for this year?
Are you thinking about adding any new landscaping, updating your pool deck or installing a new outdoor kitchen? Well, heck, now you ARE! (Outdoor living-spaces are AMAZING! But I digress…) Back to your planned or potential projects. Take your project timeline into consideration. If you are adding new landscaping then you want your pool closed while the work takes place. However, if you are updating your deck, your pool cover will need to be removed beforehand. Take the time to review your spring-fall plans and make sure your preferred pool opening date will fall within the right time before, during, or after your project(s).
Once you have answered these 4 questions ALL you have to do is call and schedule your pool opening with Your Best Swimming Pool Opening Date!
